Vander Woude Claims CoSIDA Honor

(Monday, June 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Briana Vander Woude (Junior; Clara City, Minnesota) has been named to the Capital One College Division Academic All-America women’s cross country/track and field second team for the 2011-12 school year.
Vander Woude had outdoor season bests of :14.47 in the 100 hurdles; 5-8 in the high jump; 19-8.75 in the long jump; 129-11 in the javelin and 5096 points in the heptathlon. She placed second at 2012 NAIA National Indoor Meet in the pentathlon and also placed second in the NAIA National Outdoor Meet in the heptathlon. Vander Woude qualified for the 2012 NAIA Outdoor National Meet in the heptathlon, 100 hurdles, high jump, long jump and javelin and finished 11th in the NAIA Outdoor high jump with a jump of 5-6.
Vander Woude is an elementary education major and has a 3.5 grade point average.
CoSIDA began the Academic All-America program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.
CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) was founded in 1957 and currently is a 2,700-plus member national organization comprised of the sports public relations, communications and information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
