- Shane Claiborne Lectures
Shane Claiborne will be speaking at Dordt College on Monday, December 6, in the BJ Haan Auditorium. He’ll speak at 11:00 AM, and again at 7:00 PM. The topic of his evening presentation will emphasize creation care, peacemaking, racial reconciliation, and community living.
- National Alliance on Mental Illness Support Group -- 7:00 PM
The National Alliance on Mental Illness Support Group will meet at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 7, in the Youth Room of Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. ”Unlisted”, a documentary about schizophrenia, will be shown. The film reveals the importance of supportive housing and proper treatment in keeping families together. Adults with a mental illness and family members are invited to attend.

Mark Schultz will bring his “Downhere Christmas Tour” to Southwest Christian School in Edgerton, Minnesota on Wednesday, December 8. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the concert set to start at 7:00 PM. Pickup is scheduled for Saturday, December 18, from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the Sioux Center First Reformed Church Family Life Center. This service is available to all people, regardless of financial status.

From Noon – 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 12, the Le Mars St. John’s Lutheran Church will bring Bethlehem to life. Be counted by the census taker … be entertained by musicians … hear the teachings of the rabbi … buy goods from the shopkeepers … eat Judean food. It’s all part of experiencing life in Bethlehem.

A “Tip Night” will be held this evening from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Orange City Pizza Ranch to support Dea Lieu, a Dordt graduate who is a missionary in the Ivory Coast of Africa and is battling kidney disease.

Continuing instruction for Private Pesticide Applicators will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, December 16, at the Sioux County Extension Office. The fee is $20 and pre-registration is requested by sending payment to the Sioux County Extension Office. Future sessions will be held February 2, March 31 and April 5.
