    Village Northwest Unlimited of Sheldon is hosting an Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 3 at the Village Grounds beginning at 5:30. The evening includes a food stand, carnival games, and numerous other family activities. The Celebration Iowa Singers and Jazz Band will perform at 7:15, followed by ice cream sundaes and fireworks.

    The National Alliance on Mental Illness Support Group will meet at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, in the Fireside Room of the Sioux Center Central Reformed Church. This group is for adults with a mental illness and/or their family members. The book “Hurry Down Sunshine”, a true story of a daughter with Bipolar Disorder, will be reviewed.

  • Country & Gospel Concert -- 10:00 AM
    The Church of the Damascus Road, prison congregations in Fort Dodge and Rockwell City, is hosting a Country & Gospel Concert on Saturday, July 11. Eight artists will be singing throughout the day from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Food will be available for purchase. Admission is $12 for adults, $5 for teens 13 – 17, free for ages 12 & under. The concert will be held at 11584 Polk Ave. in Remsen – 1.5 miles north off of C-16. Bring your own lawn chairs.

  • NCC Senior Citizen's Day -- 9:00 AM
    Northwest Iowa Community College will be hosting a Senior Citizen’s Day on Tuesday, July 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Various educational programs will be presented throughout the day. Free blood pressure checks will be offered throughout the day. A congregate meal will be served on site through the cooperation of Northwest Aging Association. Those wishing to attend must pre-register by July 24 by contacting the NCC Continuing Education Division at 800-352-4907.
