Dordt College will host a Retirement Open House for President Carl Zylstra and his wife Gloria from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 1, in the Campus Center.
- Dog Obedience Class -- 7:00 PM
A 9-week 4-H Dog Obedience Class will meet on Tuesday evenings in May and June. The first class will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 1, in the Multi-Purpose Building at the Sioux County fairgrounds. Anyone in grades 4-12 may attend. Classes are free for 4-H members and $30 for those not currently in 4-H. Call the Sioux County Extension Office at 737-4230 if you plan to attend.
- National Alliance on Mental Illness Support Group -- 7:00 PM
The National Alliance on Mental Illness Support Group will meet from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 1, in the Fireside Room of the Sioux Center Central Reformed Church. Individuals and family members coping with mental illness are invited to attend. Jake will share his story of living with Bi-polar disease.
- “Living with Grief” Video Conference -- 1:00 PM
Orange City Area Health System is hosting a “Living with Grief” video conference from 1:00 – 4:00 on Wednesday, May 2, at the health system main campus. The Hull 1st Christian Reformed Church Youth Group will host a Drive-In from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 2. They will be serving hamburgers, brats, hotdogs, milk shakes and root beer floats to support their service trip to Minneapolis.

Dordt College Commencement ceremonies will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 4, in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Retiring President Dr. Carl E. Zylstra will give the commencement address, titled “To The Hilt.” Overflow rooms will be available on campus for those without tickets. The event will also be carried live on KDCR and streamed online at Dordt.edu/events/commencement.

The Sioux Center Community High School will perform "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind" at 7:30 PM on Friday, May 4. The actors will have 60 minutes to attempt to perform 30 short plays, the order of which will be chosen by the audience.

The Orange City Area Health System will be holding Cardiovascular, Osteoporosis and Stroke screenings from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 10, at the health system’s main campus. Carotid Artery/Stroke screening is $40; Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening is $40; Ankle Brachial Index is $40; Osteoporosis screening is $20. All four tests can be done for $100.
