- Showing of “I Was Living Here” -- 3:30 PM
An independent Dordt College student production group will present their full-length film “I Was Living Here” at 3:30 PM on Friday, May, in Science Building Classroom S108.
- Dordt College Band & Orchestra Concert -- 7:30 PM
The Dordt College Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra, and Campus-Community Band will present a concert Friday, May 1, at 7:30 PM, at the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Admission is free, with a free-will offering received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College. Following the concert a Jazz Band Soirée will be held at the Campus Center at 9:30 PM.
- Sioux County Oratorio Chorus' Presentation of Handel’s "Messiah " -- 7:30 PM
The Sioux County Oratorio Chorus, accompanied by a chamber orchestra and featuring four soloists, will perform Handel’s Messiah at 7:30 PM on Saturday, May 2, at the Dordt College B J Haan Auditorium. Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $5 for students. Advance tickets are available at Dordt and Northwestern music departments and True Vine and Dove Book Stores.
- Skillet in Concert -- 7:00 PM
Two-time Grammy nominated band Skillet will be in concert at 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Joining them will be Disciple and Decyfer Down. Tickets are $19.50 advanced, $23.50 day-of-show, and $16.50 for groups of 15 or more. Tickets are available at the Events Center, on-line at TicketMaster.com, or charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000.
- Valley Male Chorus Concert -- 8:00 PM
The Valley Male Chorus will present their final concert of the season at 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, at the Rock Valley Trinity Christian Reformed Church. A freewill offering will be taken for the benefit of those with disabilities who are receiving services through Hope Haven, both locally and around the world.
- Bible League Spring Salad Luncheon -- 11:30 AM
The Bible League Spring Salad Luncheon will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, May 4, at the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church. Speaker will be Megan Ribbens, talking about the work being done at the Daniel Center in Abuja, Nigeria. Offering will be taken for Bibles for Africa.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness Support Group will meet at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, in the Sioux Center Central Reformed Church Fireside Room. Dr. Natalie Sandbulte will speak on "Rural Mental Health." Adults with a mental illness and/or their family members are invited to attend.
- Dordt College Engineering Department Senior Design Project Presentations -- 7:30 PM
The Dordt College Engineering Department will host the senior design project presentations on Wednesday, May 6, at 7:30 PM in the Science Building Lecture Hall S101. The four projects being presented are: Four projects sponsored by Dordt College will be demonstrated. They are: A Tensile Tester, A Baseball Pitching Machine, An Engineering Department Shop Crane, and A 1998 Neon Revolt Electric Car Conversion.

- Orange City Hospital Spring Plant Sale -- 9:00 AM
The Auxiliary of the Orange City Area Health System will hold its annual Spring Plant Sale on Thursday, May 7, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM in the main campus front lobby. Bedding plants, flower planters, and hanging baskets will be for sale, with proceeds going to the Auxiliary to directly benefit patients and families of the health system.
- Dordt College Commencement Ceremony -- 10:00 AM
Dordt College 2009 Commencement will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 8, in the BJ Haan Auditorium. Dr. Charles Veenstra is the speaker, with the topic "Children of the Light." Seating in the BJ Haan Auditorium is by ticket only, but KDCR will carry Commencement live on the air.
- Maximum Impact Leadership Simulcast Event -- 8:00 AM
The Orange City Dover Church is hosting the Maximum Impact Leadership Simulcast Event on Friday, May 8. This all-day event features John Maxwell, Tony Blair, Jack Nicklaus, and many others. Doors open at 7:00 AM, with the first session beginning at 8:00 AM and the last session ending at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $49 per person, or 4 for $179 until April 30. - Northwest Iowa Symphony Youth Orchestra Auditions
Auditions for membership in the Northwest Iowa Symphony Youth Orchestra will be held on Saturday, May 9, at the Dordt College Music Building. String instrument players in middle school through high school can audition. The Youth Orchestra presents two concerts per season. The Sioux Center Post Office carriers will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Family Crisis Center and Mid Sioux Opportunities on Saturday, May 9. Donations can be left in a bag near your mailbox.

The Tulip Festival All-Community Worship Service will be held on Sunday, May 17, in Orange City's Windmill Park. Coffee and fellowship begins at 10:30 AM. Worship begins at 11:00 AM. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. The event will move to First Reformed Church if it rains, so be sure to listen to KDCR Sunday morning for confirmation.

The musical group “Los Ecos” will perform a concert at 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 21, at Summit Church in Alta. The group tours as a team of students and staff from Rio Grande Bible Institute, a nondenominational Bible school founded in 1946 to train leaders for the Spanish-speaking world.
