- Commercial Manure Applicator Certification Workshop -- 8:30 AM
Commercial manure applicators can meet certification requirements by attending a workshop on Wednesday, January 7, at the ISU Sioux County Extension Office. Registration begins at 8:30 AM. There is no fee for the workshop, but applicators must register with the ISU Sioux County Extension Office by calling 737-4230.
- Katelyn's Fund Adoption Support Group Meeting -- 7:00 PM
Katelyn’s Fund Orphan Ministry will be holding an adoption support meeting at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 8 in the Fireside Room of the Sioux Center First Reformed Church. - MesoAmerica Travelogue -- 7:30 PM
The KDCR Travelogue featuring southern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras will be held at Dordt College's B.J. Haan Auditorium on Friday, January 9, at 7:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the door: $4.50 for adults and $3.50 for students.

The Sioux Center Community Hospital is holding a 6-week Prepared Childbirth Class. The first class meets on Monday, January 12 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Cost is $40 with book. Call 722-8134 to register.

A Public Ice Fishing Clinic will be held from 10:00 AM – Noon at the Fairview Wildlife Area on Saturday, January 24. Call to 552-3057 to pre-register. Some equipment is available for use. You bring the bucket to sit on, they will provide the bait. Ages 16 and over need current fishing license to fish.

On Saturday, January 24, Dr. Robert Horton will present a free workshop for organists. Topics are: selecting registration, and playing popular-style worship music on the organ. The workshop will be held at the Sioux Center First Reformed Church from 10:00 – 11:30 AM.
- Representative Chuck Soderberg Legislative Forum -- 10:00 AM
On Saturday, January 24, Representative Chuck Soderberg will be attending the SIMPCO Legislative Forum at 10:00 AM. It will be held at The Siouxland Center for Active Generations located at 313 Cook Street in Sioux City. They will be discussing various issues concerning the Iowa Legislature. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the meeting and address any issues that are of concern.
- Valley Male Chorus Concert -- 7:30 PM
The Valley Male Chorus will present a concert at 7:30 PM on Sunday, January 25, at the Sioux Center Covenant Christian Reformed Church. Refreshments will be served prior to the concert. A freewill offering will be taken for the benefit of those with disabilities who are receiving services through Hope have, both locally and around the world.
- Greater Sioux County Genealogical Society Meeting -- 7:00 PM
The Greater Sioux County Genealogical Society will meet on Monday, January 26, at 7:00 PM at the Sioux Center Public Library. The program will be members telling about some project they are working on or something they would like to share with the group. Members are asked to bring a snack or beverage to share. Guests are always welcome and if you would like to join, memberships for 2009 are available.
- Sioux County Oratorio Chorus "Messiah" Rehearsal -- 7:30 PM
The Sioux County Oratorio Chorus will begin rehearsals of Handel’s Messiah for the 2009 season on Tuesday, January 27, at 7:30 PM in the Dordt College Choir Room. Dr. Thomas Holm of Northwestern College will be conducting weekly rehearsals with a concert scheduled for May 2. All who enjoy singing are encouraged to join. No auditions required.

A Variety Show, featuring comedy, individual vocal performances and a mass choir number, will be presented at 7:30 PM on Friday, January 30, at the Dordt College BJ Haan Auditorium. A free-will offering will be taken to help offset traveling expenses for the choir’s upcoming tour to the Netherlands.
